Net Worth Update — October 2025

October brought two restorative weeks in Asia. The trip wasn’t flawless though: my original outbound flight was cancelled and I was rebooked on a direct service, while my checked bags arrived three days late. Back home I learned that none of this was covered by my travel insurance — a useful (and slightly painful) lesson for future policies.

Compare with last month: September 2025 Net Worth.

Total assets CHF 78’407.59
vs September (CHF 77’017.71)+ CHF 1’389.88

Values shown in native currencies (CHF, EUR, USD), converted to CHF at month-end.

Total liabilities CHF 85’450.62
vs September (CHF 87’735.05)− CHF 2’284.43

Main items: bank loan (CHF), credit cards, car leasing, small EUR loan.

Net worthCHF −7’043.03
Change vs September (CHF −10’717.34)+ CHF 3’674.31

Even with travel expenses, October moved in the right direction: assets ticked up and I paid down debt. I’m still below zero overall, but the gap narrowed by CHF 3’674.31.

What helped in October

  • Debt reduction: extra repayments lowered total liabilities by CHF 2’284.43.
  • Market tailwinds: ETFs and funds held up, offsetting part of the travel spend.
  • Consistency: kept small contributions while travelling.

What hurt (and what I learned)

  • Travel insurance gaps: cancelled flight & delayed luggage not covered. I’ll verify trip interruption and baggage delay before the next trip.
  • FX effect: CHF conversion adds noise when EUR/USD move.

Plan for November

  • Keep the debt-first approach with one extra payment.
  • Hold ETF contributions; rebuild cash buffer.
  • Upgrade travel insurance cover.
